Making Yogi Tea today. Thank you Sat Dharam Kaur, (SDK) Registered Naturopathic Doctor, for this delicious recipe.

This is ideal for those trying to remove caffeine from their life. I drink this all day long. You’re supposed to drink 3 litres of water a day and honestly, that’s hard for me. But I can get in 4 cups before I hit the trail every morning, then I start craving herbal tea. SDK says water is best, but herbal tea can count toward hydration, and the amount of black tea in this recipe is so small, I’m sure it’s okay. Trying this approach to see how it goes. I do love the taste and it’s very affordable when you make it yourself.

And the smell while it’s simmering? Absolutely beautiful. Ginger, cloves, cinnamon, cardamom, black pepper, and star anise filling the kitchen feels like therapy in itself.

Health Benefits:

Supports digestion and helps reduce bloating

Warming spices help improve circulation

Ginger, cloves, and black pepper may help support the immune system

Can help reduce cravings while cutting back on caffeine

Hydrating and easier to drink throughout the day than plain water

The spices may help calm the nervous system and reduce stress

Affordable, simple, and made from real ingredients without additives

Yogi Tea

4 cups filtered water

3 cloves

4 green cardamom pods

4 black peppercorns

1/2 slice fresh ginger

1 cinnamon stick

1 star anise pod

1/4 teaspoon black tea

Boil for 15 minutes.

You don’t have to, but you can add 1/2 cup of milk, I like almond, and a dash of honey. I make up a big pot and leave it in the fridge so it’s ready to reheat, strain, and drink. Yum yum.
