Rebuilding My Brain, One Breath at a Time

I’ve been practicing yoga for years. After a botched surgery on April 10, 2024, I was left with a brain injury. I’m healing. I’m rebuilding. Maybe I’m even coming back stronger. Yoga, walking in nature, meditation, The Beyond Addiction program offered by Sat Dharam Kaur and co-created with Dr. Gabor Maté attending The Gatehouse support groups, and writing my book—they saved me.

My mornings always begin on the mat. Sometimes Kundalini, sometimes Vinyasa, sometimes Hatha. I love it all, so I do it all. You’ll find the yoga that resonates for you. Me—I’m multi-faceted, so I need diversity. My mat is where I breathe, stretch, grieve, rise, and return to myself.

Lately, I’ve added Qigong Yoga in the evenings. It quiets the migraines. It steadies me. Healing the brain has been a journey—not all bad—always demanding adaptability, curiosity, and patience.

Not everyone, but far too many survivors of child sexual violence live with C-PTSD. I’m one of them. And still—my life isn’t all bad. There is beauty here, too.

Here is a gentle Qigong 9-minute clip for migraines.

Sending you healing and love.
