At what point do we stop treating sexual violence as isolated incidents and start recognizing it for what it is a systemic crisis? It is everywhere.
And yet again, this victim had to wait to step forward, just as so many children are forced to wait in silence, because no one is truly safe until they are removed from their predators and from those who protect them.
There is also hope in this shift: that military sexual violence can now be heard in civilian court, where it can be examined with greater independence and accountability.
